Beautifully written. I too had tears in my eyes when reading about your sweet mother. It reminded me of my mother, who has been gone for a year and a half and all the things she did for my two brothers and me as we grow up.

What a tribute to your mother!! She loved you so much and every day she had some wonderful story to tell me about you–how smart you were, how talented you were, how blessed she was to be your mother, and many more. I miss her terribly!! I felt so honored when you called and asked me to come to the hospital so I could say my final goodbye. She never knew I was there but it was and is a precious memory for me. JoAnn was a unique and special lady but I did not teach her those “words”–she had to learn them from someone else!! We love you, Jonathan, and are so proud of you! I think our Mom’s are having a great time in heaven today–probably talking about the two of us!!!

Jon,
How beautiful! Your mother was a beautiful person in every sense of the word. Let me take this opportunity to tell you how much it meant to me that you sang “The Holy City” at my mother’s funeral. I know it was hard for you. A mother can’t ask for much more in life than that her child turns out well and happy and you have given your mother that gift. I feel certain she knows it and is smiling with gladness right now.

You could have warned me that I would need tissues! I have always known that you were an incredibly talented writer, but Jon, that was simply amazing. While I never knew your mother, I can tell that her legacy lives on through you…through who you are, how you love people, and how you live your life. We are all better for having known you! Miss you, dear friend!

PS- The next time you are in the Atl, I am requesting a piano playing/sing-a-long with you and G…I think we would have an absolute blast!
